Spring Break at Walt Disney World

Since my husband and I are both teachers, we are lucky enough to share Spring Break. For our one year anniversary we decided to spend it at the happiest place on Earth! Luckily his brother and sister-in-law love it there too, so we all went together.

I’ll be talking about just Disney Springs and Animal Kingdom. If you want information about the other parks and locations in Florida, stay tuned for more blog posts!

Disney Springs

If you’ve never been to Disney Springs, it is a must. It’s basically a giant outlet mall, with amazing shops, restaurants, entertainment, and activities. But better than an outlet mall because Disney magic, duh. My favorite part is that you can use your MagicBand at most of the shops, as well as your Disney Dining Plans at select restaurants! It’s a great place to hang out at the beginning or end of your trip when you don’t necessarily have a park pass for that day. It’s also a great way to have a new selection of food other than the parks!

The best part was meeting my favorite Black-ish character, Jack aka Miles Brown!

Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is my favorite for a lot of reasons, so let’s dive in!

The animals

This one might be obvious, but some people forget how truly amazing the Kilimanjaro Safari ride is. There are hundreds of animals to be seen and you really do feel like you’re in the middle of a safari. It’s a nature reserve, so animal lovers don’t fret. These animals are there for their own protection! Besides the safari ride, there are a lot of other ways you can encounter animals here. They’re everywhere!

The food

I know what you’re thinking. The FOOD? Isn’t that what EPCOT is for?? But I’ll admit that EPCOT is my least favorite park. So here’s why I love the food at Animal Kingdom. Instead of going on and on about something as silly as food, I’ll just tell you my favorite meals at each of these restaurants.

Pizzafari: Plain old cheese pizza with a Caesar salad on the side. I don’t know if it’s because I’m always starving at every meal (perhaps because of the tens of thousands of steps I take each day), or if it really is THAT GOOD, but Pizzafari has always been a favorite of mine.

Flame Tree Barbecue: Baked Macaroni & Cheese topped with Pulled Pork. I mean, come on.

Satu’li Canteen: Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl. Chicken, slaw, and your choice of base (I go with rice!) A nice change from the “cafeteria-style” food at some locations. Grab a drink to wash it down at Pongu Pongu nearby- try the Mo’ara Margarita in a Souvenir Mug with Glowing Unadelta Seed.

Restaurantosaurus: I just love DinoLand. And I love chicken. That’s why I love the chicken nuggets and French fries here! Ok, my meal choices may make me sound like a kid, but isn’t that the point of WDW?!

The rides

Here are my top 4 in order: Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, DINOSAUR, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. If you haven’t ridden Flight of Passage you are missing out on quite possibly the greatest thrill ride of all time. That is not an exaggeration.

Why I keep going back

Trips to Walt Disney World are fun, stress-free, and easy. That doesn’t just happen, though. You have to use and appreciate the Disney magic! Staying on property, having a MagicBand, and using the My Disney Experience app are a few of the ways you can make your stay absolutely perfect.
